iVisit videoconferencing for the performance

(Project 3)

On 1st July 2000 at 3.00pm GMT we will be having a sharing of the Project 3 dance, "No Fixed Plans".

Everyone is welcome to join us for this sharing - if you would like to do so then please follow the instructions below.

You don't need any special equipment - just your computer and your Internet connection.
If you don't have a camera don't worry - you will still be able to see us.

PLEASE NOTE: IVISIT HAS CHANGED ITS LAYOUT - YOU NEED TO DOUBLE-CLICK ON ARTS&LEISURE, THEN DOUBLE-CLICK ON YOUR ROOMS, AND WE ARE IN PROJECT 3, PASSWORD "travel".

Quick Reference if you have used iVisit before:

NB: IF YOU HAVE A COPY OF IVISIT CURRENTLY ON YOUR COMPUTER, PLEASE CHECK THAT IT IS THE MOST UP-TO-DATE VERSION (i.e. 2.3b7) AS OLDER VERSIONS HAVE EXPIRED AND WILL NOT WORK.
We will be in the "Rooms" section, in a room called "Project 3". The password will be "travel".

Full Instructions:

1. Download the free iVisit videoconferencing software

Click here to go to the iVisit site and follow the instructions to download the appropriate version for your computer (Mac or PC).
Double-click on the installer to install the program.
You should now have an iVisit folder. One of the icons within it will look like three people in a circle and will be labelled iVisit 2.3b7 (or similar number).

2. Launching and using iVisit

Please note: You must be online to use iVisit.
iVisit runs as an independent program - you do not need to have your browser or any other program running.

Double-click on the iVisit icon.
You should see a window called "Directory". If you cannot see it go to the Windows menu at the top of the application window and select Directory.
Within the Directory window you will see "Rooms". Double-click on "Rooms".
You will now see another listing in the Directory window. You will see "Project 3". Double-click on Project 3.
You will be asked for a password. The password is "travel".
You will then be in the room, and you should see us in a video window on your desktop. You can make our video window larger by clicking on it.
You can chat to us using the chat window (open it in the Windows menu at the top of the application window). We can use audio, but it slows down the video signal, so we prefer to use text chat.
