OUR DAY OFF: Two tourists in NYC
First, if you have the QT plug-in, you can go ahead and hear the beautiful sounds of the Subway:

Yesterday we went out with my friend Edie to visit first her office, then dash down to Union Square to the farmer's market. Fresh Foccacia bread on the lawn while I talked with my daughters via cel, telling them not to run Jen ragged while I'm gone...they're good kids, but sheesh! What a handful! |
| There was also some shopping to be done along St. Mark's Place, which contains such lovely stores as the Sock Guy, Religious Sex, and The Wood House (where I got my friend Mark Hayward a special present from NY. Ain't he special?) Along the way I found an ARTCRIME: at the sock guy. Somehow, wearing fine art repros on your ankles doesn't seem to further the aesthetic....You can see the Mona Lisa and the Degas fairly well in this picture, but take my word for it, the rest were even worse. | ![]() |

For some reason I found the sidewalk patterns at the market fascinating. Don't you, too? |
The day ended wonderfully, by AJ and I going to see Cabaret at Studio 54. It was incredible, and very disturbing. Different enough from the movie to make it interesting, intelligent enough to leave you with lots of food for thought, and familiar enough to make me want to get up and sing along. Photography was, of course, not permitted, but I'm Super Geek, I will not be thwarted, and I got this lovely picture of the band with my Visor, Makes it all worthwhile, doesn't it?

Today we're heading out to Coney Island to get some footage of old, run down carnival stuff for AJ's Senior Honors Thesis, then heading in to the show at 5. Opening night! Merde!
