WANTED: FOR ITCHY CAMERA FINGER
|
Hi. I'm an adult. It says so on the ticket that is stuck to my face in this picture. So of course I'm far too mature to disobey the rule against any photography being taken in the Whitney Museum. However, I did have to check my Handspring Visor many times while AJ and I walked around...and I'm afraid my hand slipped on the button that triggers my Eyemodule...and when I hotsynced, I found all these pictures. So of course, I have to share. It's in the Blogger's Rulebook. |
| The Kruger exhibit. What can I say but, wow? Lots of things to make you think, and one thing I have to say is that I am thankful that she went into art, not advertising. Because I'd buy ANYTHING she tried to sell me. | part
of bronze plaque on the floor of the exhibit. |

"Is it a kiss or a slap?" The piece dealt with, among other things, the ways in which "love" gets expressed through things that are for our "own good" but which hurt an awful lot... |
|
A
series of very large images of celebrities, with thought provoking words
that don't belong...or do they?

Now, this was disturbing. A sculpture of Bobby and Jack Kennedy holding Marilyn Monroe on their shoulders. Makes you wonder at the things we celebrate...and what we do to those we love, both near and far. |
|
Located on the Ceiling: "Love is something you fall into..." |

Neither Jen nor I can remember who does these bronzes of women, but we like them. Powerful. Unashamed. Totally feminine. Wonderful. |

Speaking
of Jen, this picture is just for her: Calder's "Spider" mobile.

And that's the end of the trip to NY, except for one last picture below, of Nicky--a talented young busker playing away at his violin in front of St. Marks. Come back to this page later--I'll have a streaming Quicktime movie so you can hear him, too. |
| And, the promised pictures from our performances at the Ward Center for the Arts. gimme time, ok? I'm only one man...but thanks for all the feedback. Keep those cards and letters coming... |
